SON Fish Farm Ltd is an established commercial tilapia fish farm, incorporated in 2005, as a Limited company, the pioneer cage fish farming on Lake Victoria and started operations in 2006.

SON Fish Farm has its own hatchery for tilapia seed production, using earthen ponds, the grow-out is done exclusively in cages, located in Lake Victoria.

SON Fish farm Ltd Sells and distributes whole round fresh Tilapia fish in Kenya under Lake Harvest Kenya and in  Uganda under Lake Harvest Uganda.

SON is part of Lake Harvest Group, with other operations in Kenya, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Botswana and South Africa.

It is located in Bugungu Prison, Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District and employs over 150 staff directly and over 1000 people indirectly through fish trading and supply of farm inputs, across East Africa

Marketing and Business Development Officer

Job Summary

Responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities that support SON Fish Farm Ltd.’s growth strategy. To achieve company products new business targets from wholesale and individual direct clients, by actively conducting product awareness to the clients and managing the end to end onboarding process.

  • Minimum Qualification: Bachelor
  • Experience Level: Entry level
  • Experience Length: 2 years

  • Bachelor’s degree (BCOM, BBA) or related field.
  • A minimum of 2years of experience in a similar position will be an added advantage.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and business plan for SON
  • Develop a business growth and income-generating plans and strategies for SON;

  • Build and manage relationships with prospects, existing customers, and all other stakeholders.

  • Maintain a daily activities planner and with clear objectives and progress reports.

  • Monitor and prepare periodic reports on closed new business and retention status.
  • Build up detailed knowledge about the company’s products and keep abreast of market conditions and developments.

Job Summary

Responsible for leading all operational aspects of SON order-2-Deliver and Order-2-Pick processes while providing management support for supply chain both for distributions and farm gate Sales and management of our fleet.

  • Driving continuous improvement to achieve consistently excellent inbound and outbound customer service On-Time, In-Full to customers.
  • Supporting customer-facing team on any customer-specific action plans involving Logistics, and improving Logistics and Supply Chain Management results.
  • Working with Finance team to ensure management of costs across the Logistics network to deliver annual plan cost targets.
  • Responsibility for contracts and performance of all external 3PL-managed transporters and all haulier inbound and outbound processes.
  • Responsible for maintaining a consistently high level of stock integrity across the logistics network, and effective management of slow moving stock.
  • Executing the SON’s Logistics strategy and leading the changes required to transform the Logistics network at benchmark-level costs.


  • Degree education, preferably technical discipline
  • Proven track record of success in a Logistics leadership role in FMCG Logistics (2 years+ total experience preferred)
  • Detailed understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes, effective budget management and understanding of business P&L and project management principles
  • Detailed understanding of world-class warehousing and transport best-practice processes, systems and ways of working
  • Knowledge of warehousing and transport Health & Safety obligations, Road traffic legislation etc.

Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Driving sales initiatives and achieving desired targets with the overall responsibility of ROI.
  • Planning & implementing various Strategic and Decision-making programs in line with the company vision.
